Position Overview
Sales Associate / Material Handler responsible for ensuring a welcoming customer experience while maintaining store operations.
Responsibilities
Greet customers and donors with a genuine greeting and provide prompt, courteous assistance. Stock and merchandise priced items on the sales floor. Assist in maintaining the store and donation area, keeping it clean, neat, and organized; perform cleaning duties as assigned. Follow all POS/Cash Register policies in accordance with TSA procedures. Maintain safety and compliance standards. Attend required monthly store meetings. Unload and stock incoming inventory items accurately and efficiently. Inspect products for defects and damages to provide quality assurance. Assist donors in removing all donated items from vehicles and provide receipt. Separate and sort donated material into proper containers and stack as instructed. Perform other written and/or verbal duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School graduate or equivalent. Must accurately handle POS/Cash Register operations and cash transactions. Must pass background check, including Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry. Effective communication with management, fellow employees, customers, and donors.
Physical Demands
Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, clothing carts, merchandise carts, rolling clothing racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks and carts, hand trucks and miscellaneous carts. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Perform various repetitive motion tasks. Perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
Schedule
Our stores operate 7 days per week. Work schedules are determined by Management and employees must be flexible to ensure adequate store coverage. Part‑time associates may be scheduled to work any part‑time shift including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Covid‑19 Updates
The Salvation Army will comply with all governmental orders and any contractual obligations regarding COVID‑19 safety measures, including mandatory vaccination of staff if required. The Salvation Army will consider requests for exemptions on religious or medical grounds when available.
