The Major Gift Officer reports to the Vice President of Philanthropy and Alumni Relations and is responsible for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospective donors to support the College’s objectives and fundraising projects.

Responsibilities

Facilitate moves management (identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, close, and stewardship) for a portfolio of 150-200 donors and prospects.

Schedule and perform personal visits with potential donors to cultivate interest and secure major gifts.

Develop and present proposals that illustrate opportunities and inspire giving.

Solicit and close major gifts from alumni, parents, and friends of the College.

Enter and maintain detailed contact reports and logs in the constituent database, including next steps and targeted dates.

Plan and execute high-level activity using research and participation in prospect review meetings with departmental staff.

Assist in identifying and introducing prospects who should be connected to senior leadership and college administration or who indicate capacity and interest in planned giving.

Maintain a regular schedule of stewardship with donors and prospects through visits, calls, email, and written correspondence.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.

Experience: Progressive experience raising philanthropic support through individual giving in higher education, including annual, major, or endowment giving, and experience in comprehensive or capital campaigns.

Special Challenges and Environment Presence at scheduled evening and weekend obligations and events, as well as frequent travel, are necessary to be effective in this role.
