Responsibilities
Manage industrial maintenance operations safely and enforce all safety standards in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
Oversee all maintenance‑related duties including fabrication and repair of conveyor systems, repairs to industrial balers, disc screen systems, and other plant production equipment.
Oversee all maintenance‑related duties for buildings and facilities.
Manage all aspects of inventory control including preventive maintenance schedules, hot‑work permits, and ordering of supplies and equipment, spare parts, maintenance supplies, etc.
Manage spending against budget in relation to changes in production volumes.
Initiate, implement, and manage the plant maintenance program based on best practices in the recycling processing industry, with emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventive/predictive maintenance to ensure a minimum of 95% uptime on all plant processing equipment.
Maintain a computerized maintenance management system for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment.
Ensure that maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost‑effective manner.
Communicate regularly with all maintenance technicians, operations, and service contractors to ensure good two‑way communication and resolution of maintenance issues.
Initiate and complete projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
Track, analyze, and improve key maintenance metrics such as asset utilization, maintenance costs, preventive maintenance compliance, schedule compliance, etc.
Implement programs and procedures required to ensure shop compliance related to housekeeping and cleanliness.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Abilities
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Strong planning and organizational skills.
Ability to clearly articulate the pros and cons of various technologies and platforms.
Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to perform a detailed analysis of business problems and technical environments and use this in designing the solution.
Ability to estimate the financial impact of individual solution architecture alternatives.
Ability to provide accurate estimates for tasks and project activity.
Ability to work independently, prioritize own tasks, and the tasks of others.
Experience & Knowledge
5+ years of successful managerial experience.
Knowledge of the recycling industry is preferred.
Physical Requirements
Frequently lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling a maximum of 20 lbs.
Occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling a maximum of 50 lbs.
Rarely lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling a maximum of 100 lbs.
Frequently working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions.
Frequently working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter.
Occasionally stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling.
Occasionally climbing and/or balancing.
Occasionally sitting.
Frequently standing and walking.
Additional Working Conditions
Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas.
Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
Ability to travel between offices, as required.
Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed.
Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
Must be available for 24‑hour emergency calls.
Legally eligible to work in the United States.
Valid driver’s license (if applicable).
Must successfully complete pre‑employment testing.
Must be able to read and speak the English language.
