Suiter Swantz IP is growing, and we’re looking to add an experienced Intellectual Property Paralegal to our team. We’re an IP boutique firm based in Omaha, Nebraska, with a staff of approximately 30 people.
We’re especially interested in candidates who already have experience with patent prosecution and portfolio support. We’re a firm that’s leaning into modern practice tools and streamlined, tech-forward workflows so comfort learning new systems and improving processes is required.
Work location & flexibility We want to connect with great candidates regardless of location. Depending on experience and fit, this position may be on-site in Omaha or remote.
Responsibilities
Prepare and file documents relating to U.S. and foreign patent and trademark prosecution and maintenance.
Effectively maintain clients’ domestic and foreign patent portfolios, including opening and docketing new mattersand maintaining internal files.
Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and foreign associates (oral and written).
Conduct relevant research of patent filings and log pertinent information using specialized databases and docketing tools to ensure timely reminders, due-date tracking, and follow-through.
Assist Patent Attorneys with preparation of legal documents, filings, and correspondence.
Additional responsibilities as requested.
Qualifications
1–3 years of paralegal experience desired; experience in foreign patent prosecution is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of USPTO and WIPO procedures and filing practices is a plus.
Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office; comfort working in modern docketing and document-management systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Professional demeanor and a strong commitment to client service.
