Stitcher / Dresser @ Bay Street Theater - Summer 2026
Position: Stitcher / Dresser @ Bay Street Theater - Summer 2026
Compensation: $20/hr (+1.5x Overtime over 40 hrs)
Reports to: Costume Shop Supervisor
Location: On-site in Sag Harbor, NY. Housing is available.
Schedule: The work schedule is determined by Costume Shop Supervisor + Wardrobe Supervisor. This position requires regular evening and weekend work in conjunction with BSTs performance calendar. This is a seasonal position.
Start Date of Employment: May 11, 2026
End Date of Employment: August 30, 2026
Duties and Responsibilities Costume Department
The Stitcher/Dressers responsibilities will include assisting the Costume Department with:
Assist with fittings
Execute theatrical alterations and repairs to costumes
Knowledge of theatrical costume construction
Experience with industrial and domestic stitching
Experience with advanced stitching and cutting techniques
Experience with steaming and ironing
Experience with crafting
Interest in other costume areas
Work with stock inventory including organizing, documenting, and check in/out
Assist other departments with soft goods needs
Assist with load-ins and load-outs
Wardrobe Department
The Stitcher/Dressers responsibilities will include assisting the Wardrobe Department with:
Create and maintain Wardrobe Paperwork
Assist with laundry, cleaning, prepping wardrobe for performances
Pull and restock costumes in Bay Streets costume stock
Create and assign dresser tracks
Order and maintain inventory of Wardrobe and Hair/Makeup supplies
Attend rehearsals when possible
Perform basic stitching/repairs including shoes
Assist with wardrobe/costume needs for other BST events
Coordinate dressing room assignments with Stage Management
Experience with hair, wigs, and makeup
Coordinate load-ins and loadouts
Includes prep work for Literature Live production.
