Overview
Our Client, an Energy Services company, is looking for a Control Systems Specialist for their Jackson, MI location.
Responsibilities
The Control Systems Specialist will support generation projects by managing operational technology (OT) initiatives, including OT Asset Management (OTAM), field modernization, and multi-factor authentication (MFA) implementation.
This role ensures reliable control systems operation and modernization across plant facilities while collaborating with internal teams and contractors.
Assist in planning and executing OTAM and field modernization projects.
Manage and analyze data using Excel for project tracking and reporting.
Provide technical support for Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and related control equipment.
Review and update documentation for control systems and network configurations.
Ensure compliance with cybersecurity and MFA requirements for OT environments.
Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to integrate controls communication and logic.
Troubleshoot basic network and control system issues during modernization activities.
Be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and other stand-alone systems (both hardware and software).
Knowledge of DCS and PLC systems from multiple vendors (GE Mark VI, ABB, Ovation, Rockwell Automation, and others).
Requirements
6+ years of experience
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
Experience in a plant environment
Proficiency in Excel data management for reporting and analysis.
DCS experience (preferred) with knowledge of control system architecture.
Understanding of controls equipment types and functions.
Basic knowledge of networking principles and controls communication/logic.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational skills
Experience in power generation or industrial automation projects.
Familiarity with OT cybersecurity practices and MFA implementation.
Knowledge of PLCs, SCADA systems, and field instrumentation.
Knowledgeable of the design, construction or operation of electric generating plant and/or gas compressor station equipment
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
