Job Summary The Flight Simulator Technician performs complex maintenance, repair, testing, calibration, and modification of Cirrus Aircraft’s Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTD), including Full Flight Simulators (FFS), Fixed Training Devices (FTD), and Advanced Aviation Training Devices (AATD). The role ensures continued operation with minimal downtime while maintaining qualifications under 14 CFR Part 60 and CS‑FSTD(A) regulations and supporting the company’s simulator quality and compliance programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance following manufacturer schedules and procedures.

Conduct power‑up and power‑down procedures and provide technical support during simulator training events.

Maintain accurate maintenance records, inventory, and documentation.

Provide customer service support in a timely and professional manner.

Carry out housekeeping tasks to maintain the highest quality and presentation of training devices.

Work proactively in a team environment to perform pre‑flights, corrective, and preventive maintenance.

Interface directly with Cirrus customers and instructors to resolve maintenance and performance issues.

Operate Quality Test Guides (QTG) and participate in aviation authorities’ qualification evaluations.

Install and test new, modified, and repaired equipment.

Suggest and champion initiatives to improve training equipment performance and reliability.

Ensure FSTD devices are ready for training with correct software and hardware configurations.

Maintain documentation using Cirrus tools such as the simulator management system and inventory database.

Contribute to the success of the Cirrus Training Center and Flight Simulator Support department objectives.

Monitor and communicate equipment status using Cirrus tools.

Execute simulator diagnostics using manufacturer‑provided software.

Train entry‑level technicians in general simulator maintenance and troubleshooting.

Provide expert support for specific simulator manufacturer types.

Lead aviation authorities’ qualification evaluations.

Serve as a subject‑matter expert during simulator modifications and evaluations.

Resolve system degradations and repair major assemblies to component level when required.

Perform advanced hardware and software analytical diagnosis and corrective maintenance.

Work any shift required, including weekends, nights, and holidays.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

AS degree or higher in Electronics, Avionics, A&P Certificate, Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar technical discipline (or equivalent 2‑year vocational certificate).

3 years of direct flight simulator technical support.

Minimum 1 year of experience with Cirrus Simulator Quality Management System (SQMS) or 3 years with another organization's SQMS.

Bachelor’s degree preferred.
