System One is partnering with a client that is looking for a highly skilled Product Design Engineer to lead mechanical equipment design projects from concept through installation. This role is perfect for someone with strong SolidWorks expertise, hands on mechanical design experience (especially with steel and heavy equipment), and the ability to manage projects with minimal oversight. Robotics experience is a plus but not required.
What You’ll Do
Design mechanical equipment and positioning systems used in multi axis and robotic applications
Build detailed SolidWorks models, perform analysis, and produce complete engineering drawings
Apply practical knowledge of steel structures, welding, machining, and assembly processes
Lead projects independently, including installation oversight and customer interaction
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth execution from design to delivery
Support field activities with light travel (3–4 trips per year, typically short duration)
What You Bring
5–7 years of mechanical design engineering experience
Expert level SolidWorks skills
(non negotiable)
Strong background in steel structures, mechanical equipment, and practical manufacturing processes
Ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively with customers and internal teams
Engineering degree preferred but not required with strong experience
Comfortable with occasional short notice travel (approx. 10% or less)
Bonus Skills
Experience with robotic cell design or integration
PLC or electrical design exposure
Windows programming experience
