Job Summary
The Operations and Logistics Specialist supports the VP of Operations and the Production Control Manager across the Reno and Lovelock facilities. The role involves rocket motor test support, test scheduling, facility operations and maintenance, ammunition & energetics, property management, quality support, and shipping and receiving. The position requires expertise in prototyping, design, and development, and emphasizes creating standard operating policies, continuous improvement, and supporting 110/AS9100 recertification activities.
Responsibilities
Rocket Motor Test Support
– Support engineers with cold‑ and hot‑gas testing, test area prep, motor assembly/disassembly, and prototype component fabrication.
Test Scheduling
– Act as focal point for planning, coordinating, and scheduling test operations in Reno and Lovelock to minimize resource conflicts.
Facility Operations and Maintenance
– Manage modifications, coordinate janitorial, repairs, restocking, security, HVAC, and recommend capital/overhead equipment procurements.
Tooling/Test Equipment Maintenance
– Support design for manufacturability and tool maintenance/repair.
Obsolete Equipment Disposition
– Assist with disposition of excess or obsolete equipment.
Ammunition & Energetics (A&E)
– Manage process training, inventory, handling, receiving, permits, and support facility audits.
Property Management
– Track and reconcile direct program assets, indirect materials, and other inventory; maintain property system records.
Quality Support
– Maintain ISO9001 and AS9100 recertification, support inspection and calibration processes.
Shipping and Receiving
– Oversee inventory tracking, physical and electronic shipments, and receipts.
Experience Required
Minimum 10 years in designing and fabricating tooling & test equipment; developing manufacturing and test processes.
Experience executing facility management and/or logistics services in prototyping, design, or development phases.
Preferred
AS9100 and DCMA standards familiarity.
Department of Defense program experience (e.g., MDA).
Master Production Scheduling expertise.
Lean and Six Sigma principles knowledge.
Education Required
Partial completion of a bachelor’s degree in operations management, engineering, supply chain, logistics, or related field – or equivalent experience.
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in operations management, supply chain management, or a STEM discipline.
Skills Required
Strong multitasking ability in a collaborative environment.
Critical thinking to solve problems related to resource allocation, schedule deconfliction, BOM, inventory, purchase requisitions.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Project).
Preferred
Experience with energetic materials and assemblies (solid rocket motor testing).
Machining experience (mill, lathe, CNC).
ERP/MRP system proficiency.
Lean Enterprise Institute principles or similar manufacturing/process/quality knowledge.
Integrated Program Management Tools usage.
Other Required
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the required level (requires U.S. citizenship).
Preferred
Active DoD Secret Clearance.
