Data Center Environmental Compliance Manager

Job Description
Join our team as an Environmental Compliance Manager, where you will play a crucial role in managing environmental permit compliance for the construction of Data Centers. You will oversee the implementation and compliance of environmental permits during the construction phase until the project is handed over to operations. Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure adherence to all Federal, State, and local regulations. This is a strategic position where your expertise will drive the successful execution of environmental permits across multiple regions.
Responsibilities
Coordinate with subject‑matter experts to meet compliance obligations according to the construction schedule.
Work closely with Permit Managers to ensure construction teams understand and comply with all environmental approvals.
Manage environmental and construction consultants to support site delivery, conducting inspections and reporting to stakeholders.
Identify and mitigate construction‑related issues involving stormwater, wetlands, and other environmental concerns.
Assist with permitting teams to handle construction permit modifications.
Engage with regulatory agencies and communities for new builds.
Develop environmental risk and compliance strategies to support construction timelines.
Oversee environmental compliance planning for pre‑construction activities and operational turnover.
Communicate environmental requirements to various stakeholders and contribute to an Environmental Excellence program.
Essential Skills
5‑7 years of experience in environmental permitting or compliance in America.
Proven program and project management skills, including permit timeline development and consultant team management.
Strong understanding of environmental regulations, particularly Clean Water Act sections 402, 401, and 404.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or Construction Management preferred.
Experience with mission‑critical facilities or large‑scale construction projects.
Work Environment This position is based onsite in Indianapolis, working Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. The role requires a strong presence in the field, involving both onsite inspections and offsite report development. A per diem of $5,000 is provided throughout the assignment.
Job Type & Location This is a contract position based out of Indianapolis, IN.
Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $54.00 - $64.00/hr.
