Conservation Crew Supervisor (Conservation Program)
Location:
Oakland, CA Compensation:
$28.50 - $31.00 hourly (full‑time)
Position Summary The Conservation Crew Supervisor collaborates with the Conservation Program Coordinator and a team of fellow supervisors to train and develop youth (age 18‑26) in conservation and land‑management work. The role oversees the crew’s safety, performance, and progression through Civicorps programs while managing project completion and fostering partner relations with regional land‑management agencies.
Core Responsibilities
Corpsmember Development:
Supervise crews of 5‑8 young adults.
Ensure safety through training, policy compliance, and supervision.
Set performance expectations and conduct verbal and written evaluations.
Provide general and technical training; enforce policies and utilize progressive discipline.
Track retention, transition, and goal‑setting for program completion, including career counseling.
Collaborate with Training and Wellness Teams to connect Corpsmembers with counselors and resources.
Project Management:
Ensure successful completion of crew’s assigned projects through communication with sponsor agencies, planning, and meeting specifications.
Monitor progress, inspect completed work for quality and quantity, and evaluate project success.
Remain onsite during the paid on‑duty lunch period due to unsupervised Corpsmember policies.
Administrative:
Generate project progress and needs reports for Civicorps and sponsor agencies.
Handle daily crew rosters, vehicle inspections, and associated paperwork.
Maintain, monitor, and distribute equipment and supplies.
Prepare timesheets, incident, and accident reports promptly.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience working with young adults in education, youth development, or job training, or a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Standard First Aid and CPR certification (or readiness to obtain).
Valid driver’s license and eligibility for company insurance.

Experience with power tools such as chainsaws, brush cutters, pole saws, and hedge trimmers.
