As a Merchandise Manager, you will lead a team and drive top‑line sales growth, optimize inventory and merchandising, and uphold Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision and values. General Summary & Scope
The Merchandise Manager reports to the Operations Manager, guides Task Associates and is accountable for the operation of a retail store, including shipment, replenishment, omni‑channel, price changes and markdowns. The role focuses on sales performance, people development and process compliance. Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Performance
Promote accountability to meet or exceed store goals (sales, guest loyalty, payroll, omni‑channel, shrink). Drive profitability through operational excellence, top‑line sales growth and expense control. Use store forecast and payroll budgets to support scheduling and communicate needs to the GM. Analyze financial and operational reporting, including audit results, regularly. Leverage company programs and tools to meet store goals. Perform product demonstrations and skincare analysis to enhance guest experience. Stay informed on industry trends and products. Maintain regular attendance and enforce the Ulta Beauty attendance policy. People
Attract, hire, and retain diverse talent. Build an engaged team aligned with Ulta Beauty’s brand. Create an inclusive environment that encourages growth. Support associate development: training, feedback, coaching, succession planning. Participate in ongoing training to drive sales performance. Model operational excellence and lead by example. Execute the Guest Engagement Leader program to achieve store performance metrics. Process
Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures and standards. Enforce the dress code and scheduling tool for accurate reporting. Use the task management tool to prioritize store workload. Execute shipment, replenishment, omni‑channel, price changes and markdowns. Protect assets and minimize loss through workplace safety and inventory control. Manage inventory control processes and report theft as needed. Champion continuous improvement and adopt company initiatives. Communicate business trends, operational challenges and competitive insights to leadership. Job Qualifications
Education
High school diploma is preferred. Experience
1–2+ years of fast‑paced retail management or related experience. Financial management: driving sales, interpreting reporting, managing payroll budgets, controlling expenses. Retail management: monitoring inventory, operational excellence, merchandising directives. Leadership: attracting, developing, motivating talent, adapting to change, influencing team. Skills
Basic technology proficiency (POS, Microsoft Office, Apple devices). Excellent written and verbal communication. Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills managing multiple tasks. Ability to react under pressure, use good judgment and adapt to ambiguous situations. Special Position Requirements
Work a flexible, full‑time schedule including days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Available for shifts starting at 5:00 a.m. Available to work shifts on Sundays and Mondays. Working Conditions
Continuous mobility throughout the store during shift. Continuous and/or frequent bending, pulling, pushing, crouching, stooping, reaching, twisting. Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects. Frequent lifting or moving up to 40 lbs. Frequent use of computer, telephone and related office supplies. Additional Information
