Position Purpose The DC Transportation Manager is responsible for managing the outbound deliveries to stores within the service region and ensuring that on‑time deliveries are made to the stores and are within budget. The DC Transportation Manager will manage yard operations, coordinate a back‑haul program and provide leadership to the transportation team.

Key Responsibilities

Manage carrier relationships and planning to ensure timely deliveries, optimize cube utilization, maintain inbound deliveries, minimize expedites and communicate daily with carriers for on‑time compliance. (25%)

Manage transportation cost, including cost per truckload, cube per truckload and cost per mile; support overall financial goals; audit invoices; review general ledger for transportation charges. (25%)

Drive customer service; develop team, manage associates and store concerns from phone calls and Infodock. (20%)

Develop and report financial & operations metrics. (15%)

Maintain accurate yard operations: yard integrity, dock, security, yard switchers, pallet recycling. (15%)

Direct Manager / Direct Reports

Reports to: DC General Manager I/II.

Number of direct reports: 6; accountable for supervising work, personnel issues, selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development. (15%)

Travel Requirements

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Physical Requirements

Requires intermittent periods of continuous physical exertion: walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, which may be heavy or awkward.

Working Conditions

Comfortable environment with periodic exposure to temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noise and fumes which may cause discomfort or moderate risk of accident or illness.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum age eighteen.

Legally permitted to work in the United States.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, on‑call, weekends and holidays.

Open to relocation.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Business or Supply Chain.

Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel.

Extensive transportation background: TMS, routing, P&L, budgeting.

Previous change‑management experience.

Minimum Education
