Job Description Waste & Recycle Driver
in Denali National Park requires a Class A CDL and drives a tractor‑trailer, 1‑ or 2‑ton truck, or other large vehicle. Drivers are expected to operate an efficient, consistent, safe, and timely service.
About Denali National Park & Preserve and the Doyon/Aramark Joint Venture: Summer days in Alaska stretch nearly endlessly, with up to 20 hours of daylight on the Summer Solstice. Spanning 6.2 million acres, Denali National Park & Preserve is home to Denali, the highest peak in North America, and attracts over half a million visitors annually. Conveniently accessible by road – 4.5 hours from Anchorage and 2 hours from Fairbanks. Doyon Limited and Aramark operate as the park’s concessionaire, managing transportation, retail, guest service and food and beverage concessions from May to September. Our operation includes a 100‑Blue‑Bird bus fleet that takes guests past the 15‑mile public access point during summer months.
This is a seasonal role from April 16 to October 7, 2026. We offer competitive wages, paid holidays, sick pay, benefits stipend, on‑site housing, and meal plan ($16/day all inclusive) with local discounts.
Employees are responsible for knowing the environmental aspects and associated impacts of their job position. Job‑specific environmental aspects and impacts will be communicated by department managers during EMS training.
Job Responsibilities
Must complete a daily vehicle inspection form prior to driving.
Work with Recycle workers to move recycled items from park disposal locations to the recycling shed for proper disposal.
Assist in sorting recycled materials when requested.
Maintain a pleasant and clean atmosphere in the vehicle.
Utilize all safety equipment available; always wear a seat belt when driving.
Operate garbage truck, tow truck, hauling trailers, a 2‑ton truck or a 1‑ton truck transporting supplies and equipment.
Drive defensively, safely, and cautiously at all times.
Provide exceptional customer service to guests, ensuring a positive representation of Aramark and Denali National Park.
Fuel, clean, and inspect vehicle when required; report malfunctions to Transportation Office.
Maintain vehicle log books with rider‑ship information.
Work with Transportation Office dispatcher to handle special requests.
May serve as a warehouse driver transporting and delivering equipment and supplies.
Be aware of SDS sheets; read and use this information when necessary.
Identify maintenance and safety issues and take correct steps to correct them.
Maintain a positive attitude and be willing to lend a hand wherever needed.
Attend all scheduled department and safety meetings.
Know and comply with all company policies and procedures regarding safety, security, emergencies, and energy.
Report to work in time and in complete uniform.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
One year (non‑consecutive) experience as a CDL driver required.
Must be 23 years or older.
Must communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
Valid Class A CDL with passenger endorsement and a clean driving record showing 5 years of safe driving.
Pass a DOT physical examination and obtain a medical card.
Pass a pre‑employment drug/alcohol test and participate in random testing pool.
Complete and pass a Defensive Driving Course prior to operating a company vehicle.
