Summary Sets up, calibrates, and tests plasma processing equipment and records results. Provides technical team leadership to ensure integration and test tasks are completed defect‑free and on time and that continuous improvement actions are identified and incorporated.

Duties and Responsibilities This role performs all duties of the Manufacturing Technician IV, with additional responsibilities performed without direct supervision.

Provides technical guidance, assistance, and on‑the‑job training to the test technician staff.

Sets up the system software configuration.

Performs pre‑QA test prior to final acceptance.

Prepares systems for process application testing; leak‑checks process gas lines and performs actual trial process run.

Resolves issues found during system QA and customer IAT visits.

Performs a technical leadership role as team leader for one or more systems during their integration and test; responsible for workmanship and ensuring assigned systems meet defined schedules.

Conducts safety and workmanship audits during operations to ensure no hazardous conditions exist or are created with respect to assigned systems.

Ensures all documentation (e.g., activity logs, test data) is complete, in accordance with defined requirements, current, and accurate for all assigned systems.

Contributes directly to developing (writing, reviewing, approving), maintaining, and executing operating procedures for all integration and test practices, procedures, and policies.

Interacts with other functions such as Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Supply Chain to identify areas for improvement, assist in developing continuous improvement activities, installing and maintaining those practices in the test area.

Performs duties as assigned.

May be responsible for new employee training, within team leadership, and peer coaching.

Supervisory Responsibilities This assignment is a lead or manager in training role.

Requirements

Associate’s Degree from a two‑year college or technical school, equivalent military or other technical training, or equivalent experience.

Minimum five years of directly related systems integration and test experience.

Leadership and supervisory assignments in prior experience highly preferred.

Demonstrated competence with all Plasma‑Therm products as a Test Technician IV for a minimum of one year or equivalent equipment experience.

Skills and Abilities

Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, technical procedures, and other related material.

Ability to read, interpret, and follow safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Understanding of best industry practices for safety, workmanship, and quality in the set‑up and test of semiconductor capital equipment or products of similar complexity.

Ability to apply intermediate to advanced mathematical skills to solve technical problems.

Ability to work independently with little or no direct supervision.

Proficient in use of crimpers, torque wrenches, vacuum leak detectors, soldering iron, and other assembly/test hand tools.

Ability to provide leadership to a small team of skilled technicians.

Working knowledge of Windows Office.

Ability to communicate effectively with other technical functions within the company and with levels of management outside the integration and test area.

Ability to adapt to a changing schedule.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Normal work environment typical of manufacturing clean room facility and support areas such as stockroom, machine shop, and laboratory.

Incumbent is routinely required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, touch, see, and hear, and may be required to lift or move up to 50 pounds.

While performing regular duties, incumbent is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, and possible exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals. Must wear safety equipment and follow safety instructions.
