Journeyman Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Mid Country Machinery is looking for an experienced On‑Site Mine/Quarry Equipment Mechanic focused on maintaining heavy machinery within a mining, quarry or industrial steel mill setting.
Position Overview You will be an on‑site mechanic responsible for diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of various heavy mining and quarry equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety. A service truck is provided, and the position guarantees a minimum of 50 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
Inspections and diagnostics – Perform comprehensive inspections and diagnostics on equipment such as loaders, excavators, haul trucks, drills, aggregate plants, and crushers.
System troubleshooting – Identify root causes of malfunctions in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
Preventative maintenance – Conduct routine maintenance tasks to minimize downtime.
Documentation – Maintain detailed records of all repairs and maintenance activities.
Team collaboration – Prioritize repair schedules, strictly follow safety protocols, and potentially assist in training junior technicians.
Key Qualifications and Requirements
Experience – Minimum of five recent years of proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic in a relevant industrial setting (Journeyman or Master level required).
Technical skills – Strong knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulics, and mechanical components; ability to read technical manuals and schematics.
Work hours – Ability to work a minimum of 50 hours per week (guaranteed minimum).
Certification/Licensing – Ability to become MSHA certified (company provided), a valid driver’s license with a clean record (no DUI in the past three years), and ability to pass a pre‑employment physical and drug screen.
Personal equipment – Must be fully tooled and able to perform the job effectively.
