Production Planner - Sumter, SC
Join as a Production Planner at Eaton’s ES AMER ARS division located in Sumter, South Carolina. The role is on‑site and focuses on material scheduling and production planning for the P&S product line.

What You’ll Do
Provide a wide variety of assignments supporting the P&S product line, developing an extended production plan with material resolution, developing strategies, and liaising with operational teams on capacity and equipment utilization.
Play a key role in improving and sustaining OTD, leading production meetings, and reviewing capacity per production, materials, and customer demands.
Review orders, respond to communications, and expedite requests within Service Level Agreement requirements to ensure customer requirements are delivered.
Lead production meetings and report on weekly key issues, then follow up with the team on reschedules.
Cross‑train in all Sumter products and provide on‑the‑job training for Panelboard and Switchboard Customer Service areas.
Coordinate material shortages with Supply Chain to support OTD.
Review and provide reconciliation requirements between AS400, VISTA, and Production Schedule.
Ensure compliance of the scheduling standard work instructions and service level agreement for all orders.
Review ship shorts, white status, teardowns and ensure all are processed prior to production assembly.
Support and assist production teams with resolution of processes and information quality issues.
Participate in Lean events and contribute to process improvements designed to reduce cycle time, increase front‑end efficiencies, and improve information quality.
Lead the review of aging orders for solutions on a weekly basis, monitoring priority and high‑profile orders.
Provide backup support to the team as needed.
Maintain quality processes such as processing ship shorts and proactively identify opportunities for process improvement designed to reduce cycle time, increase front‑end efficiencies, and improve quality.
Participate in department Tier meetings as well as production meetings to discuss the status of daily metrics, material availability, and production scheduling.
Minimum Qualifications
High‑school diploma or GED from an accredited institution with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in material scheduling and planning, or an associate degree from an accredited institution.
Proficient with computers and programs including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Willing to work flexible hours in support of business needs.
Exhibit strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to resolve obstacles or delays in the scheduling process.
Self‑starter capable of working with minimum supervision and solving accounting, material, and internal problems as unusual circumstances arise during interface with manufacturing, shipping, and accounting.
Frequent contact with shipping for confirmation and routing information.
Extensive inter‑departmental contacts concerning status of material, production schedules, and quality of product.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in material planning and scheduling.
CPIM certification.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
No relocation benefit is offered. Only candidates within a 50‑mile radius of Sumter, SC will be considered, except for active‑Duty military service members who are exempt from the geographic limit. Eaton will not sponsor immigration or work visas for this position.
Salary range: $68,000 – $99,000 per year, with potential variable incentive program. Base salary may vary based on experience and market considerations.
