Vaco has partnered with a client in downtown Indianapolis to fill a Senior Billing Specialist position. This role will support a growing accounting team in a fast‑paced legal environment.

5 years of legal billing and e‑billing experience
This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely client invoicing while also providing leadership, training, and support to billing staff. The ideal candidate has 5‑plus years of experience with legal billing and e‑billing and is a self‑starter who can adapt quickly, manage complex billing requirements, and thrive amid ongoing change.
This is a direct‑hire, hybrid position based in Indianapolis, with a schedule of three days in office and two days remote.
Key Responsibilities
Generate, review, and process client prebills in accordance with established procedures and timelines.
Interpret attorney billing instructions and ensure compliance with client guidelines, fee agreements, and firm policies.
Manage the accurate and timely delivery of invoices, including electronic billing submissions.
Maintain billing instructions and matter details within the legal management system.
Troubleshoot and resolve billing discrepancies and complex billing scenarios, including split billing and multi‑payer arrangements.
Serve as a subject‑matter resource for attorneys and internal stakeholders.
Provide training, mentorship, and ongoing support to billing team members.
Assist with creating documentation, training materials, and process improvements.
Maintain confidentiality of client and firm financial information.
Qualifications
Minimum of
5 years of legal billing and e‑billing experience .
Proven ability to lead, train, and mentor others.
Advanced knowledge of e‑billing platforms, LEDES formats, and vendor requirements.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to prioritize work in a high‑volume, deadline‑driven environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Experience with legal management systems; familiarity with LMS and/or Aderant preferred.
