Job Description

Ensure compliance with division's policies & procedures, quality and safety standards, and all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Attend all required training and acquire CEUs to maintain a Physical/Chemical Wastewater Operator license.

Adhere to a safety culture and follow procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

Report safety hazards promptly that cannot be corrected at an individual level.

Adjust biological, chemical, and/or physical processes to keep the plant operating properly.

Troubleshoot the plant during operational upsets.

Run the control system in accordance with supervisory guidelines to achieve discharge quality and volume requirements.

Assist or directly perform field maintenance on pumps, valving, and equipment as needed.

Perform shift inspections and report aberrations promptly to supervision if unable to correct.

Perform routine measurements and record results through spreadsheets; communicate via email.

Use mobile equipment to transport reagent totes and skids as necessary.

Perform all other duties as assigned to meet organizational needs.

Physical Requirements

Stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear, and see while performing duties.

Work 12‑hour rotating day and night shifts.

Lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) occasionally during the workday.

Work in a surface mine plant setting with potential exposure to extreme temperature and humidity.

Wear personal protective equipment as required (hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, respirator, rubber steel‑toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, etc.).

Qualifications

Associate degree or equivalent of two years of college in hard science (engineering, chemistry, geology, biology, mathematics, or physics), OR

Four years of water/wastewater plant operations (or closely related field).

Current physical/chemical level C license or higher (advantage).
