Precision Machinist – Oregon Tool
Location: Portland, OR
Hourly Rate: Up to $40/hr
Shift: Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm
How You Make an Impact The successful candidate will support precision tooling and machine components using Prototrak machinery, OD/ID grinders, jig grinders, jig bore, wire EDM, conventional EDM and surface grinders.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate jig bore, jig grind, OD/ID grind, surface grind, Prototrak and CNC equipment to produce high-tolerance components per specifications.
Perform drilling, grinding, boring, reaming and milling of tool steels and carbide parts.
Utilize precision measuring tools (dial indicators, bore gauges, micrometers, comparators) to ensure component accuracy.
Perform daily machine maintenance: lubrication, wheel dressing, truing, cleaning; set up machines for optimal performance.
Program and edit CNC and wire EDM machines using CAM software (e.g., Esprit); troubleshoot, generate quotes and optimize machining strategies.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited precision machining apprenticeship preferred.
Minimum 3 years in a precision machining environment with expertise in wire EDM and grinding of tool steels and carbide.
Strong mechanical aptitude, ability to work with close tolerances; familiarity with data/labor entry systems.
Effective communication skills and a demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, flexibility, customer focus, quality and teamwork.

Monday – Friday
7:30 am – 4:00 pm
