Senior Construction Inspector

General Responsibilities include performing construction-related inspection with required certifications and/or experience, monitoring quality and adherence to building code requirements, construction drawings, and project specifications. Inspections may cross multiple disciplines (e.g., structural steel, concrete, masonry, fireproofing). Includes visual/physical inspection and field testing to verify conformance, preparing inspection reports, and communicating findings to the engineer or project manager. Adhere to strict safety standards. Responsibilities
Perform testing, observation, and inspection as directed to determine if work conforms to contract specifications. Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Provide clear documentation of findings and results. Prepare inspection reports and document nonconformance. Perform basic data analysis to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Project Manager. Communicate information to the Project Manager and other personnel as directed. Interact with client and site personnel to provide input on resolutions of findings. Assist Project Manager in development of scope for testing and inspection services. Coordinate pre-dispatch activities with Project, Department, and/or Office Managers. Maintain equipment operation and calibration. Lead and coordinate activities of lower-level inspectors where applicable. Perform advanced fieldwork and assist with project management. Drive a vehicle as required (e.g., Ford F-150 or equivalent). Follow safety rules and report safety issues to management. Maintain quality standards on all projects. Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent. Associates degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Engineering Technology preferred. Minimum 4-6 years of experience in construction inspection. Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history. Required Certification
Successful completion of related internal safety certifications. At least four or more certifications in the following areas: NICET Level III in Construction Materials Testing (Asphalt, Concrete, Soils). NICET Level III in Geotechnical (Construction, Laboratory, Exploration, Generalist). ICC certification (Reinforced Concrete, Spray-applied Fireproofing, Structural Masonry, Prestressed/Post-Tensioned Concrete, Structural Steel – Bolting, Structural Steel – Welding). ICC Master of Special Inspection. AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI). ASNT Level III certification (VT, MT, PT, RT, UT). Other national, regional, state, and local Materials-related certifications considered as appropriate by Terracon Department Manager. ACI certification in one or more areas: Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I Concrete Strength Testing Technician *ACI certification not required if other certifications are held and concrete testing is not required for the job level. Certified in radiation safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation. Note: Nuclear Density Gauge operation certification not required if other certifications are held and soils testing is not required for the job level. About Terracon
