The successful candidate will join the Maintenance Directorate to support the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering Contract (CMOE) located at NASA Langley Research Center.

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy.

Installation or repair of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems or other transmission equipment.

Working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications; locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment.

New construction work running conduit and installing electrical services.

Working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.

Use a variety of electrician’s hand tools, measuring and testing.

Work will include additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship required.

Eight years of experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training in a designated field, craft or trade documented by a certificate or diploma from a reputable organization, school, or trade school program.

Must be Virginia state licensed, journeyman level worker.

Must be able to effectively communicate with others.

Essential Functions

Work Environment: Test Environment (85%) – may be exposed to high noise levels, hazardous propellants, chemicals, and industrial facilities. Travel between various facilities and during test operations is required.

Physical Requirements: Visual and physical contact of test related systems, hardware, and articles. Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist and sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, and lift up to 35 lbs.

Equipment and Machines: Hand tools, power tools, mechanical, and electrical control devices (40%), control room test operation display/keyboards, mechanical and electrical control devices (20%), personal computers and related equipment (10%), safety and personal protective equipment (50%).

Attendance: Regular attendance is mandatory (100%).

Overtime/work outside normal schedule required (20%).

Location and Salary NASA Langley Research Center, Hampton, VA. Salary range $34,362.00–$55,000.00 (est).
