The Sr. Quality Engineer is a top contributor who works with minimal supervision and uses originality, ingenuity and established procedures to control and monitor quality, ensuring products are consistent with industry standards, government regulations, and customer requirements. Essential Functions
Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Suppliers and Customers Maintain compliance to AS9100. All internal auditing required by AS1900 and coordination of CARs to ensure closure Provide consultation on complex projects; recommend changes in procedures Collect and analyze production data to evaluate product quality Drive root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions Monitor quality control systems to ensure effectiveness and efficiency Instruct others in quality control and analytical procedures Produce reports regarding nonconformance of products or processes, root cause analyses, or quality trends Drive qualification of product and process changes to ensure only the highest levels of quality are accepted Support audits with Defense, Aerospace and Customer Auditors Review and approve quality document changes – Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), Manufacturing Change Orders (MCOs), deviations Utilize a roadmap of continuous improvement for the organization by establishing priorities, methods and strategies for implementation using data to both guide the process as well as monitor the result Any other task assigned by supervisor or management Minimum Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer/Analyst in an Aerospace environment or similar manufacturing setting. Managed AS9100 QMS compliance. Knowledge: Expert knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures of assigned product or program; demonstrated expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. AS9100 certified auditor Skills/Abilities: Demonstrated ability to make decisions or take action independently; demonstrated ability to plan and accomplish goals by relying on extensive experience and judgment; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal staff and outside professionals; proficient in the use of Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Education/Certification: BA or BS degree in Quality, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Proficiency in Lean Principles and Implementation Tools Educational background in Structured Problem Solving, 5S, Mistake-Proofing and process capability tools Familiarity with Minitab ASQC Quality Engineer Certification Working Conditions
Standard office environment Work requires substantial visual concentration on detail Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE. May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes. Standing: approximately 10% of time. Sitting: approximately 90% of time. Quality Engineer III: $116,800 to $136,000 Quality Engineer IV: $136,000 to $161,000 Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications.
