Position: Construction Project Manager

Position Description Provides project management for major construction and renovation projects including budgeting, planning and programming, design, contracting, construction, commissioning, and close‑out.

Major/Essential Functions

Project Assessment & Scoping: Engage customers to define scope, objectives, budgets, and schedules; perform risk assessment and constructability evaluations.

Design and Construction Document Development: Lead engagement of contracted design firms; provide strategic direction to in‑house drafting; ensure compliance with codes and TTU standards.

Construction Bidding & Contracting: Participate in pre‑bid meetings; evaluate bids; guide contract preparation, review, and execution.

Construction Management: Implement project delivery and communication plan; hold progress meetings; handle unforeseen conditions; manage budgets and schedules.

Supervision: Oversee project managers and third‑party vendors; mentor staff; promote diversity and inclusion; lead performance management.

Communication: Foster open communication; provide status updates to leadership; maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

Project Close Out: Coordinate certificates of completion; resolve punch‑list items; process final pay applications; manage warranty issues.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong knowledge of building codes, industry standards, accessibility requirements, contract language, and Texas public contract regulations.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all leadership levels.

Expertise in programming, design process management, budget management, and large capital project oversight.

Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, or related field plus three years of project management experience. An advanced degree may substitute for one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering.

Seven or more years of project and contract management experience, preferably in higher education.

Experience with construction at institutions of higher education or research.

Job Details Job Type: Full Time

Pay Basis: Monthly

Annualized Pay Range: $78,900 - $102,600 - $126,200

Travel Required: Up to 25%

Shift: Day
