American Vanguard (NYSE: AVD) is seeking an experienced
GL (General Ledger) Accounting Manager
to join our corporate accounting team. This role is responsible for overseeing General Ledger accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with U.S. GAAP. Experience working in a public company / SOX compliance required – manufacturing (ERP) experience desired. This is a hybrid position working in the office 2-3 days a week.
What you will do: Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals for two small (US) subsidiaries Responsible for managing accounting for fixed assets and intercompany transactions Support quarterly, annual and interim external and internal audits including preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor requests Collaborate with other departments to ensure that accounting information is accurate and timely Ad hoc projects as needed
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required) CPA certification (preferred)
Required Experience: 6+ years of progressive accounting experience Must have accounting experience in a Public Company (SOX - Sarbanes Oxley) General Ledger experience with Internal controls and auditing processes Proficiency in ERP systems skills (Manufacturing); SAP or QAD preferred Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and financial statement preparation Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to analyze and resolve complex accounting issues Strong leadership and team management skills Strong communication and collaboration skills to work cross‑functionally Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; ability to work with large data sets and pivot tables
