Responsibilities
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and statutory accounting principles (SAP).
Assist in the preparation of NAIC and state regulatory filings.
Analyze financial results and provide insights to senior management.
Oversee the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
Ensure compliance with insurance regulatory requirements and statutory reporting standards.
Support internal and external audits, including coordination with auditors and examiners.
Assist in developing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
Monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
Implement and maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting; identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and professional development.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in the P&C insurance industry.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting principles (SAP).
Experience with insurance regulatory filings and compliance.
Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems a plus.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
