Airgas is hiring a Plant Operator / Backup Class A Driver in Ann Arbor, MI. We are committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace and to safety, quality, and customer success. Responsibilities
Loads and unloads gas cylinders and/or other products onto and off of route trucks and trailers, moving cylinders with proper carts. Operates a forklift to move cylinders on pallets and rolls cylinders as needed. Handles high-pressure, medical and liquid cylinders. Prepares high-pressure cylinders and cryogenic vessels for filling. Attaches to manifold, evacuates cylinders to eliminate contaminants. Performs basic cylinder maintenance, such as painting, labeling, and cleaning the work area. Inspects cylinders prior to filling and conducts safety checks per procedures, including odor tests, caps and valves checks. Fills cylinders by pressure and weight per regulations and standards. Checks cylinder quantities, styles, and products; assists with inventory as needed. Safely loads, delivers and unloads cylinders containing compressed gases to customer locations. Records deliveries and pickups on a load manifest and obtains signatures. Collects empty cylinders or rejected merchandise and returns them to a plant or branch for refilling. Qualifications
Valid Medical Examiner's Card. Valid Class A Driver's License. Hazmat & Airbrake Certifications (or ability to acquire as a condition of employment). Must have one (1) year of prior Class A professional driving experience within the last five (5) years with a clean driving record (no more than two convictions); OR two at-fault accidents in the last 3 years; OR a combination of one conviction and one at-fault accident in the last 3 years. In lieu of experience, may consider a diploma from an accredited driving school and a minimum of one (1) year of driving experience within the last five (5) years. Must be at least 21 years of age.
