Position Summary The Equipment Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing semiconductor manufacturing and photonics‑related equipment in a cleanroom environment. This rôle ensures maximum tool uptime, stable process performance, and safe operation of highly specialized production equipment. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, detail‑oriented, mechanically inclined, and able to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on semiconductor and photonics manufacturing equipment (lithography, etch, deposition, metrology, packaging, or related tools).
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and vacuum system issues; perform repairs to return tools to operational status quickly.
Complete equipment calibrations, alignments, and system qualifications to maintain process stability and performance.
Partner with Process Engineers and Equipment Engineering to resolve tool issues, improve reliability, and implement upgrades.
Document maintenance activities, parts usage, equipment downtime, and repair plans in the tracking system.
Monitor tool performance, trends, alarms, and SPC data and escalate issues proactively.
Maintain spare part inventory and ensure critical components are stocked.
Support new equipment installations, startups, and acceptance testing.
Follow all cleanroom, EHS, and equipment safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and improve tool throughput.
Required Qualifications
2+ years of experience as an Equipment Technician in semiconductor, photonics, electronics manufacturing, or related high‑tech environment.
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
Experience with vacuum systems, pneumatics, motion control, and robotics.
Ability to read schematics, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
Experience working in a cleanroom environment and with industry‑standard PPE.
Basic computer skills; ability to log maintenance activity and review SPC or tool data.
Excellent communication and ability to work in a team‑centered environment.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on equipment requiring stooping, standing, or ladder use.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with photonic packaging, wafer fabrication, or optoelectronics equipment.
Prior work with tools such as aligners, evaporators, PECVD/RIE systems, bonders, wire bond, die attach, or laser‑based tools.
Experience using CMMS or equipment tracking software.
AS or technical certificate in Electronics, Mechatronics, Automation, or related field.
