Member Solutions Specialist — Collections
Resource One Credit Union is looking for a Member Solutions Specialist – Collections to minimize loss and maximize recovery of delinquent accounts while building relationships and providing excellent member service.
Description The Member Solutions Specialist is responsible for managing the collection process, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and maintaining the confidentiality of member information.
Position Responsibilities
Initiate and administer collection actions on member accounts that are negative, at risk of default, or delinquent; review and work the collection queue daily.
Document all collection actions taken, including telephone conversations, payment arrangements, and correspondence, in a collection package.
Negotiate and coordinate payment arrangements with members; initiate loan modifications and work‑out agreements, including preparation of supporting documentation and recommendations for approval.
Ensure the security and confidentiality of private member information.
Communicate effectively with members regarding delinquent accounts while providing clear, concise, error‑free communications.
Review accounts for due diligence completion and make recommendations for repossession or charge‑off in accordance with credit union policy.
Advises the Member Solutions Assistant Manager or Director of Member Solutions on cases requiring special attention.
Stay apprised and comply with established State and Federal laws and regulations such as FDCPA, FCRA, SCRA, etc., and credit union policies and procedures.
Maintain a well‑developed working knowledge of assigned duties and request additional training as needed.
Work diligently to meet or exceed collection goals set by management.
Perform Member Identification Program (MIP) processes as outlined in the credit union’s Bank Secrecy Act procedure.
Assist with training of new or established Member Solutions staff.
Recommend improvements to procedures and processes involving job function(s) to management.
Educate account holders on potential legal actions derived from delinquency.
Provide courteous and excellent service to members at all times.
Perform skip tracing when needed.
Ensure prompt recovery of collateral.
Develop industry contacts and utilize those contacts to minimize credit union losses.
Report regularly to work and return from breaks and meal periods on time according to schedule and credit union procedure.
Work remotely or at a specified credit union location as required.
Show flexibility in scheduling to ensure departmental coverage; may be subject to change without notice.
Perform additional tasks as delegated.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
6 or more months of similar or related experience.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Knowledge of collection procedures and related laws and regulations.
Understanding of credit union loan products and policies and familiarity with default and enforcement clauses.
Familiarity with deposit programs, account ownership, and casualty insurance.
Basic understanding of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
Understanding of the Small Claims Court system.
Accuracy and thoroughness in work.
Excellent communication, telephone, and public relations skills.
Ability to work well independently.
Ability to work well under stress.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: stationary work, often requiring standing or sitting for prolonged periods; operating standard office equipment and keyboards; visual recognition, reconciliation, and verification of numerical details for accuracy; repetitive motions of wrists, hands, fingers; ability to access and navigate facility with reasonable accommodations; lifting and carrying small parcels, packages, and other items.
