Position Summary The Assistant Registrar manages all functions associated with student academic records, including registration, course scheduling, institutional record keeping, degree audit and conferral, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of records, compliance with state and federal laws, and reporting to institutional stakeholders. The role works closely with the Registrar, deans, faculty, and staff to enforce academic policy and supports all Yeshiva University Offices of the Registrar.

Position Responsibilities

Reports to the Cardozo Registrar.

Manages all Registrar services for students and faculty, including schedule creation, student registration, transcript processing, grade processing, transfer credit evaluation, graduation audits and conferral, processing of bar forms and student requests, and duplicate diploma requests.

Compiles, records, verifies, and disseminates enrollment, curriculum, academic progress, and grades data to university constituencies and accreditation agencies.

Operates day‑to‑day Office of the Registrar functions.

Coordinates graduation duties.

Supervises clerical staff.

Participates in policy and procedure development regarding student records and registration, and updates the academic catalog yearly with the Dean.

Takes a leadership role in formulating, approving, and implementing campus policies and procedures.

Engages in professional development as a YU representative, staying current on federal and state educational policy requirements.

Responds promptly to inquiries via telephone, walk‑in, and email.

Maintains and secures student files and archives records.

Handles all reporting for the Office of the Registrar.

Assists in preparing registration materials for registration periods, including lottery registration.

Assists during registration processes with student, faculty, and administrator inquiries.

Acts as liaison to other institution partners for recordkeeping, cross‑listing, and registration of jointly offered courses.

Maintains and updates forms as new policies arise.

Administers procedures related to course descriptions, prerequisites, credits, and scheduling of courses and classrooms.

Performs degree audits, certification of graduates, and diploma distribution.

Performs National Student Clearinghouse enrollment and degree verifications.

Coordinates with deans on schedule submission, collects materials, reviews, and prepares them for publishing.

Oversees high‑level projects and system testing assigned by the University Registrar and Cardozo Registrar.

Updates the Registrar’s Office website.

Requires occasional travel to support all Yeshiva University campuses, including Wilf and Beren campuses.

Other duties as assigned.

Experience & Educational Background

Bachelor’s degree required with 5‑7 years’ experience in higher education administration, familiar with scheduling, registration, academic record keeping, systems analysis and programming, transfer credits, and graduation checks; National Student Clearinghouse updates.

Preferred: at least 3 years in a college or university administration setting, ideally in a Law School Registrar’s Office, with experience in academic records management, curriculum administration, and student services.

Knowledge of FERPA and other relevant federal and state laws is required.

Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and data analysis required.

Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a diverse community.

Exhibit strong written, oral communication, attention to detail, analytic and problem‑solving skills, multitasking, prioritizing, and adaptability.

Skill in re‑engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and implementing new strategies.

Foster a cooperative work environment, including employee development and performance management.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word required.

Strong preference for experience with Banner or similar computerized student information systems.

Salary $67,000 - $72,000
