Overview Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Structural Graduate Engineer to join our team in our Roanoke, VA office. We have a highly experienced and dynamic team dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.
Duties and Responsibilities
Design building systems, structural elements and connections under the supervision of a professional engineer by performing engineering calculations/analysis.
Design structures of a variety of materials including steel, concrete, wood and masonry.
Analyze existing structures for new uses and design repairs/reinforcement where required for existing conditions.
Coordinate with other disciplines including architectural, mechanical and civil regarding the project’s design.
Provide construction administration assistance in responses to requests.
Perform site visits, inspections and review of shop drawings.
Prepare detailed design calculations and construction drawings.
Required Skills
Strong all‑around theoretical knowledge of structural engineering principles.
Ability to apply structural engineering principles to design of various elements.
Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.) a must.
Required Experience
EIT/FE certification or the ability to obtain certification within one year preferred.
Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering from an ABET accredited college.
Preferred Experience
Master's degree in structural engineering.
