Electrical Project Designer – Locations We are recruiting an Electrical Project Designer for the
Rogers, AR; Dallas, TX; Tulsa, OK; or Oklahoma City, OK
offices.
The role involves leading design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer on projects of low to moderate complexity, and collaborating with senior staff on larger, high‑complexity initiatives.
The Engineer will work closely with other engineers, consultants, and clients to provide engineering solutions and advice that lead to positive outcomes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Lead design efforts for the analysis of electrical systems, utilizing engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards;
Interact with clients to understand needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively; build and maintain client relationships through professional communication;
Work as part of a project team to support execution of consulting projects, leading project planning, budgeting, and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives; document design decisions and monitor project progress;
Analyze engineering problems and propose innovative solutions; collaborate with senior engineers and consultants on practical, efficient solutions;
Provide in‑process design reviews of electrical system design, calculations, and specifications; implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure designs meet IMEG, industry, and client standards;
Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering; contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG;
Prioritize safety in all engineering work; identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with electrical systems;
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including engineers, architects, and project managers—to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals;
Identify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project Manager;
Oversee projects through bidding and construction administration phases.
Key Skills & Abilities Needed
Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts for producing technical plans and specifications;
Strong technical and analytical skills covering circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics for building electrical systems; proficiency with industry–standard engineering software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, SKM/PTW, Easy Power, BIM, and CTC Revit Add‑In Tools;
Knowledge of IES Standards and comfort with energy compliance software (Comtech), Adobe/Bluebeam Revu, and reference resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and FGI;
Experience with master specification editing and software such as eSPECS;
Strong training and mentoring skills;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written;
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment;
Attention to detail and strong problem‑solving ability;
Proficiency with Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) tools in Revit for electrical calculations and coordination;
Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook);
Ability to travel up to 15% with occasional overnight stays.
Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (required); Engineering in Training (EIT) certification preferred;
Minimum 5 years (prefer 6) of experience in building design consulting;
Alternative Qualifications
Associates degree, certificate, or relevant experience in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering (preferred);
Minimum 9 years (prefer 10) of experience in building design consulting or construction industry;
