as a Senior Transportation Construction Inspector. In this leadership role you will oversee quality assurance on highway and bridge projects, ensuring that as-built construction meets design specifications, safety, and performance standards.

Responsibilities

Inspect asphalt and concrete for acceptable materials and mix.

Verify pavement for proper spreading, rolling, depth, alignment, and compaction.

Inspect roadway and structures for conformance to plans, specifications, structural materials and members, placement of culverts, foundations, piles, reinforcing and structural steel, concrete, and backfill.

Oversee traffic control and erosion control devices.

Perform complex calculations and computations.

Prepare and review field measurements and contract documentation.

Conduct inspections and perform other duties as assigned.

Night and weekend work may be required as dictated by client project needs.

Required Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent (or 8 years of relevant construction inspection experience).

Minimum of 5 years experience in construction inspection.

Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Strong written communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Successful completion of drug‑screening procedures prior to hire and ongoing random testing thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction inspection for transportation projects.

Considerable knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highways and bridge construction.

Knowledge of mathematical functions, geometry, and trigonometry.

Skills in using calculators and computers.

Ability to read, interpret, and explain construction plans, contract provisions, and specifications.

Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to take notes and prepare or review reports.

Willingness to work a flexible schedule.

Travel to meetings, site visits, and inspections.

Licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with applicable state law.

Local candidates preferred.

SCDOT certifications, other DOT certifications, or ability to obtain are most preferred.

Location South Carolina – Charleston, Columbia, Greenville, or Beaufort.

Schedule Full‑time. Night and weekend work may be required as dictated by project needs.
