Mechanical Engineer II - Structures (Onsite)
Join our team and help Collins Aerospace drive innovative solutions in Mission Systems. The role involves delivering engineering deliverables through all phases of development, supporting bid and proposals, and expanding capabilities for ejection seat product lines.
What You Will Do
Perform analysis to resolve ejection seat structural (static) design challenges
Support through all phases of design including bid and proposal, conceptual, preliminary, detailed, qualification testing, new product introduction, production implementation, and in‑production support
Execute on design/project tasks required to develop and qualify aircraft ejection seats, ensuring technical scope integrity and budget/schedule accuracy
Collaborate with test engineering, product engineering, system engineering, and program management
Support the program with technical writing including presentations and reports for customer approval
Assist Program Management with bid and proposal preparation
Support Systems Engineering on requirements analysis and requirement compliance plan
Interact with Business Development to ensure customer satisfaction and business strategies
Qualifications You Must Have
Degree in STEM and at least 2 years relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field
Strong team player, motivated, and able to work in a collaborative environment
Strong analytical skills, knowledge of physics, dynamics, and statics
Experience presenting design solutions to internal and external customers
3‑D CAD experience with high‑end software (e.g., NX, CATIA)
Experience with strength hand‑calculation methods
Qualifications We Prefer
Experience with Unigraphics/NX and Enovia PLM
Dynamic modeling practices: assembly relations, mechanical movement, and simulations
Experience in aerospace and defense industry
Experience with aircraft cockpit, crew station, escape system, ejection seat, or crew systems design
Experience with machining, sheet metal, composites, and fabric design
Experience with energetic cartridge or propellant‑actuated devices
Familiarity with aerospace/military specifications
Use of continuous improvement principles and design optimization
Understanding of mechanical principles for structural analysis beyond finite element tools

Salary range: 66,000 USD – 130,000 USD.
