Foundry Engineer (in U.P. of MIch)

We are looking to fill a full time, day shift, Foundry Engineer position with a manufacturer located in the U.P. of Michigan.
Foundry experience is not necessarily required but must have a strong tooling background in plastics or metal stamping in lieu of foundry tooling experience.
Salary range: $85K to $95K DO. Relocation assistance is available $3k to $5k depending on location.
The Foundry Engineer determines the most efficient tooling design and configuration to profitably produce castings within customer specifications.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology or equivalent
Modelling using SolidWorks or Creo
Simulation experience, MAGMASOFT preferred
Experience in root cause defect analysis and resolution
2+ years of experience preferred
Supervise highly diversified journey work and formulate new approaches
Formulate and apply technical practices
Environment: General office working conditions, frequent shop exposure, occasional travel
Exhibit superior safety practices every day evidenced by outstanding housekeeping at all times
Extend treatment to all other associates of the Company as individuals with the courtesy and dignity shown to customers
Exceed customer quality and service expectations through attention to detail
Exercise maximum care to protect the environment by fostering and supporting responsible operating procedures
What You'll Do
Work with production control and other departments to ensure trouble-free and timely start-up of new jobs and engineering changes
Prepare documentation of new work and set dates for completion of tooling, sampling, pilot runs, layouts, etc.
Track, record and report progress
Initiate communication with customers and tooling vendors on status and act as liaison on new job start-up, casting design and cost-reduction proposals
Suggest design changes to enhance value on existing and new designs
Collaborate with production and quality control to resolve scrap issues on existing programs
Communicate with Sales Department on product development, tooling designs and new job status
Communicate required changes to appropriate plant personnel
Participate in the Cost Estimate Requisitions (CER's) process by developing estimates of tooling design, yield, and cost
