About the Role: The Human Resources Manager in the Transportation and Warehousing industry plays a pivotal role in aligning workforce capabilities with organizational goals to ensure operational excellence. This position is responsible for overseeing all facets of human resources functions including recruiting, employee relations, payroll, and compliance with labor laws, thereby fostering a productive and legally compliant work environment. The manager will lead initiatives to develop and implement effective change initiatives, employee engagement events, and performance appraisal systems. Additionally, they will manage benefits administration and new hire orientation/onboarding to maintain high employee satisfaction and retention. Ultimately, this role ensures that the workforce is well‑planned, motivated, and equipped to meet the dynamic demands of the transportation and warehousing sector.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in human resources management, preferably within the transportation or warehousing industry.

Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Excel / Outlook / PowerPoint / HRIS systems / Etc.

Strong knowledge of labor laws and regulations applicable to the transportation and warehousing sector.

Proven experience in recruiting, employee relations, payroll administration, and performance management.

Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

Experience with HR information systems (HRIS) and payroll software specific to the transportation industry.

Strong knowledge of Payroll functions and benefits administration to ensure employees are compensated accurately and fairly, which supports retention and satisfaction.

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional HR certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR.

Familiarity with workforce planning and training program development tailored to logistics operations.

Advanced degree in Human Resources Management or related discipline.

Responsibilities:

Develop and execute recruiting strategies to attract and retain qualified talent tailored to the transportation and warehousing industry needs.

Manage employee relations by addressing workplace issues, facilitating conflict resolution, and promoting a positive organizational culture.

Oversee payroll functions ensuring accuracy, compliance with regulations, and timely processing.

Conduct performance appraisals and coordinate workforce planning to align employee development with business objectives.

Ensure compliance with labor laws and industrial relations standards, including managing exit interviews and handling grievances.

Administer employee benefits programs and coordinate training initiatives to support professional growth and operational efficiency.

Drive strategic HR initiatives that contribute to the overall success and sustainability of the organization.

Performance appraisal and workforce planning to enable the manager to identify talent gaps and implement targeted training programs that enhance employee capabilities.

Manage regional employee relations needs to build a competent and engaged workforce that meets the operational demands of transportation and warehousing.
