Construction Project Manager – Austin Industrial
Position at Austin Industries, overseeing small to medium sized construction projects under the supervision of an Operations Manager.
Job Overview The role is responsible for the successful completion of projects, meeting expectations for safety, quality, schedule, and budget while fostering strong relationships with customers, owners, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors.

Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers
Equipment administration
Development of subordinates
Compliance with company policies and procedure
Annual reviews of subordinates
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Read prime contract, ensure reporting obligations and deliverables
Hold customers, subcontractors and vendors accountable
Plan material and resource allocation
Setup and manage document control system
Review submittals for coordination and adherence
Prepare project correspondence
Lead progress, planning and safety meetings
Mobilization activities and site security
Detailed review of subcontractor bids and issue agreements
Ensure required bonds and insurance before work begins
Engage Risk Management for non‑pre‑approved revisions
Administer completion documentation and closeout tasks
Review and approve subcontractor pay applications and invoices
Monitor subcontractor and vendor performance and payments
Prepare closeout documents and customer pay requests
Distribute change requests for pricing and schedule impact
Prepare proposed change pricing, maintain change order log
Provide pre‑construction services (technical, value engineering, constructability)
Cost and Productivity Management
Analyze budget and quantity updates for job cost reporting
Ensure timely daily time and quantity reporting
Maintain job cost reporting per company policy
Develop innovative methods for efficiency and profitability
Review productivity reports with project team, keep management updated
Review and approve work plans
Manage change order process with cost inclusion
Account for project profit/loss, meet or beat budgeted costs
Approve conversion of bid documents to cost elements
Prepare monthly Job Status Reports and investigate cost variances
Review labor cost reports with superintendent
Manage efficient use of equipment fleet
Scheduling
Ensure project completes within contract requirements
Schedule and coordinate resources as needed
Develop and update project schedule, incorporate changes
Review look‑ahead schedules and updates
Quality
Ensure project meets all quality requirements
Review and approve project quality plan
Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with plans
Maintain documentation of inspections and follow‑ups
Relationships
Lead team to promote safety, quality, teamwork, respect and efficiency
Develop and maintain trust with customers, owners, engineers
Foster effective relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
Safety and Environmental
Lead project team to achieve safety performance objectives
Review and approve safety plan
Perform safety observations and correct hazards
Assist in developing project‑specific safety plans
Meet environmental obligations required by contract and regulations
Technical
Four‑year degree in a technical discipline
PMP certification or ability to obtain within one year
Demonstrated technical, mathematical, communication, and writing skills
Knowledge of engineering or construction principles
Read and interpret drawings and specifications
Forecast cost and determine labor and equipment requirements
Ensure compliance with applicable laws, ordinances, building codes
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
Manage Lump Sum, Unit Price, Time & Material projects
Contribute to project pursuit efforts and effectively present
