Mechanical Engineer (Part-Time) at Accura Engineering and Consulting Services, Inc.
Pay Range Base pay: $35.00/hr - $45.00/hr
Location Huntsville, AL
Duties / Responsibilities
Perform mechanical engineering tasks such as HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression, and high‑pressure piping design and construction support for government buildings, test stands, recreational facilities, roadways, parking lots, laboratory facilities, and other projects.
Develop design drawings, specifications, and facilities design criteria statements for HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression, and other mechanical engineering areas.
Prepare and oversee the development of drawings, specifications, and submittal schedules.
Provide engineering support during the construction phase of design projects.
Assist project cost estimators in developing construction estimates.
Participate in design reviews, providing comments on peer‑generated mechanical engineering designs and plans for a variety of applications.
Assist client project managers during construction, re‑modeling, and repair projects.
Coordinate work requirements under the guidance of the Discipline Design Team Lead until design requirements are defined and implemented.
Progress towards a project lead role for designs involving other facilities design disciplines.
Interact effectively with government clients associated with NASA MSFC facilities and support engineering, construction, and maintenance activities.
Maintain professional files in a systematic and retrievable manner.
Education / Experience
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
3+ years of mechanical engineering design experience, including HVAC units, ductwork, plumbing fixtures, piping, fire suppression, and related design activities.
Ability to read and understand construction contract drawings applicable to mechanical engineering design.
Competence in MS Word and MS Excel.
