The Shift Lead plays a key role in supporting production by guiding team members, coordinating materials and schedules, monitoring output, and ensuring processes are followed to meet safety, quality, and productivity goals.

The Shift Lead is responsible for ensuring their team meets daily objectives through effective communication, coaching, and real‑time problem‑solving. This role supports injection molding operations, oversees schedule and material changeovers, and engages with cross‑functional team members to resolve defects and maintain consistent production flow. The Shift Lead also provides the shift supervisor with accurate updates on safety issues, quality concerns, and operational bottlenecks while fostering a clean, organized, and collaborative work environment.

B Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

C Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

D Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Key Responsibilities

Follow all safety policies to maintain a safe work environment.

Coach, lead, and mentor team members to achieve goals in safety, quality, and productivity.

Oversee schedule and material changes efficiently using the “work order changeover process.”

Oversee and support the injection molding process.

Monitor machine output for non‑conformance and resolve defects in partnership with cross‑functional team members.

Keep work areas clean and organized following 5S methodology.

Conduct pre‑shift production meetings.

Provide support to production team members (floaters, operators, material handlers, processors).

Provide the shift supervisor with accurate updates on safety issues, quality concerns, and production bottlenecks.

Adhere to production standards and SOPs and elevate non‑conformances to the supervisor.

Competencies (Knowledge/Skills/Abilities)

Strong organizational skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Exceptional hand‑eye coordination

Ability to work well in a team environment

Basic computer skills

Proficient mechanical knowledge

Ability to use or learn production monitoring software

Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred)

Comprehensive understanding of food safety, GMP, PRP, HACCP, and food‑contact material awareness (in applicable facilities)

Education

High School Diploma or GED (required)

Experience

1+ years of experience in an injection molding environment (preferred)

Basic knowledge of auxiliary equipment such as Beck robotic automation, Martin Automation, and Kase Heat Transfer Application (preferred)

Physical Job Requirements

Ability to lift and handle 45–55 pounds occasionally

Ability to work in an environment with moderate noise levels

Ability to perform work from a standing and/or sitting position

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment which may be hot/cold and requires PPE at all times (safety glasses, ear plugs where required, etc.)
