What You'll Be Doing A
Shop Tech II/Diesel Mechanic
plays a key role in keeping our customers’ equipment running at peak performance. You’ll diagnose and repair diesel engines, small engines, agricultural machinery, and related implements with precision and efficiency. Your work will be performed to the highest safety and quality standards, ensuring every repair is completed right the first time. This role offers the opportunity to apply your technical expertise in a fast-paced shop environment while collaborating with a skilled team committed to delivering exceptional service.
Responsibilities
Perform complex diagnostics, service repairs, and maintenance on customer and dealer-owned equipment independently
Troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic systems using diagnostic tools
Assemble and perform maintenance on various types of equipment
Maintain accurate records of repairs and parts used
Communicate professionally with customers regarding repair status and recommendations
Collaborate with Service Manager or Shop Foreman when guidance or escalation is needed
Ensure all work complies with safety protocols and manufacturer specifications
Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
Support team efforts by sharing knowledge and assisting colleagues as needed
Qualifications What's Required
3–5 years of mechanic experience with diesel and small gas engines
Must own and maintain a full set of tools
Intermediate computer skills, including use of diagnostic software and repair documentation
Clean driving record and ability to comply with DOT regulations as applicable
Ability to diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues
Flexible with work schedule including shift variations
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent customer service skills, with a customer-focused attitude
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Preferred
3–5 years of mechanic experience with diesel, small gas engines, and agricultural or golf equipment
Experience working on John Deere or comparable equipment
Compensation will depend on skill set, equipment knowledge, and work experience.
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent
Formal training such as an Associate’s degree or Trade School Certificate in Mechanical Systems, Diesel Technology, or related field
Physical Requirements
Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and work in confined spaces while performing repairs, maintenance, and equipment handling.
Requires use of hands and fingers to handle tools, operate machinery, perform detailed mechanical work, and exercise manual dexterity.
Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver equipment and parts up to 50–75 lbs., and occasionally heavier with assistance.
Requires close vision, depth perception, and the ability to read schematics, manuals, and computer screens; hearing ability sufficient to communicate with coworkers and customers in person and over the phone.
Must be able to work in various environments, including shop, outdoor conditions, confined spaces, and elevated areas.
Must be able to safely operate company vehicles, forklifts, and other equipment.
Ability to travel to company locations, customer sites, or job sites as required.
