Occupational Summary
The Financial Management Analyst will provide financial strength in planning, developing, and coordinating financial analysis and reporting for the Department of Medicine (DOM). The role supports the Advanced Specialty Disorders Collaborative Unit (ACU) and collaborates with faculty, staff, and leadership to strengthen fiscal compliance and data‑enhanced decision making. Primary Job Responsibilities
Support accounting activities and financial reporting for the Divisions of Hematology, Infectious Disease, and Rheumatology, including budget development, monthly variance reporting, and trend analysis for external contracts and DHIP operations. Prepare financial projections and forecasting for operational activities, including development of financial models as needed. Provide oversight of discretionary spending and monitoring of overdrafts. Perform revenue management activities for the DASON and DACON programs, including invoicing, quarterly analysis, and reporting on operational performance. Develop and maintain hospital contract tracking, identify areas for improved business process performance, and support procurement responsibilities, including creation of purchasing requisitions for outside services. Work collaboratively with divisional leadership on assessment of key data metrics associated with contract analysis, revenue management, and business process improvement projects. Process monthly and year‑end closing, journal entries, and review and approval of expenditures across all fund codes within the department. Coordinate and participate in SOM’s monthly/quarterly FAM analysis, overdraft management, and development of fellow fund projections. Other Duties as Assigned (10%)
Backfill support for divisional financial staff, including processing of IFOMs, PDC payroll activities, and monitoring Concur expenditures. Assist with requesting appropriate SAP/R3 security access across supported divisions. Education/Training
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a business‑related field. A CPA or master’s degree is preferred. Required Qualifications
Minimum six years of financial management and analysis experience, including financial reporting and use of general ledger and database systems. A CPA or master’s degree is preferable. Experience
Less than six years of experience in financial management and analysis or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Skills
Financial knowledge with general ledger systems and large volumes of data. Strong accounting skills with attention to detail and ability to analyze financial data and present results concisely. Strong analytical skills combined with investigative and curious mindset. Financial statement preparation, interpretation, and analysis. Experience with business planning and project management. Ability to work both as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision. Proficiency in integrated systems – SAP applications (proficiency with BW and Tableau is added value).
