Position Overview The Manufacturing Quality Engineer promotes, develops, and oversees compliance of the company quality system. Assures compliance with customer requirements by managing quality policies, standards, procedures, programs and practices while driving and facilitating continuous improvement. Coordinates the activities of QC technicians.

Essential Job Functions

Lead by example with a Safety First mindset in every task. Create and sustain a best-in-class safety program and culture.

Ensures compliance with the ASME quality requirements, customer requirements, quality policy, and company standards.

Validates quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes; measuring production; documenting evidence; determining operational and performance qualification; writing and updating quality assurance procedures.

Develops and implements the Quality led activities specified within company process to assure quality from raw material receipt to production.

Effectively interacts with Management, Production and Sales on quality or customer issues to ensure timely and professional resolution.

Manages non-conformance and corrective action documentation control system including root cause investigation and analyses. Makes final determinations or dispositions related to non-conforming materials.

Manages the calibration and certification of all measuring devices including pressure gauges, levels, rulers, etc.

Manages welding WPS\PQR documentation and coordinates with operations to maintain currency of welder qualifications.

Works directly with purchasing and suppliers to establish criteria and ensure the compliance of supplied materials.

Works directly with sales and customers to coordinate and support job specific quality requirements.

Is the primary liaison for all 3rd party and customer inspectors.

Is the primary contact for annual quality audits.

Responsible for the compilation and reporting on all quality metrics and develop new metrics when needed.

Leads and champions quality focused process improvements and participate in product development projects to provide a quality perspective.

Responsible for the maintenance and completeness of all product traceability requirements, documentation, and processes.

Requirements Educational and Experience Requirements

Engineering Degree required (Mechanical or Industrial)

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Quality Engineer with supervisory experience

Minimum of 3 years of experience in the metals industry required

Preferred

3-5 years’ experience in statistics, Lean/Six Sigma or other analysis

National Board, CI certification

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Willing to work in a manufacturing environment where noise levels can be high

Willing and able to raise and transport articles weighing up to 25 pounds

Willing and able to walk, stand, stoop, sit and inspect material daily

Willing to wear personal protective equipment (PPE)
