Description of Work As a High Voltage Electrician, you will expertly handle various skilled tasks involving voltage levels up to 66,000 volts. Your role will encompass installing, testing, repairing, and maintaining different electrical machinery, devices, and associated equipment. You will work with complex electrical systems, splice underground wires, test standby generators, and troubleshoot electrical issues to ensure seamless service. Your commitment to safety is paramount; you will strictly adhere to established procedures and safety guidelines while working with advanced equipment. You will also operate diverse components within the electrical generation and distribution system.
Your work will occur in key locations, including the Harrisburg Capitol Complex, the Governor’s Residence, the Lieutenant Governor’s Residence, and the Regional Office Buildings. You will confidently navigate challenging environments, often working at heights exceeding 60 feet on small platforms and confined spaces (manholes, vaults).
Work Schedule and Additional Information
Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
5-day, 16-hour a day operation subject to shift work
Work hours: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with 30‑minute lunch
Telework: Not available for this position
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility Qualifications
Successful completion of a High Voltage Electrician Training program; or
Six years of journey‑level electrical experience, including eighteen months of experience in high voltage electrical work
Special Requirement
Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License
Condition of Employment
Possession of a valid Master Electrician License from the City of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
Additional Requirements
Location: 509 North 7th Street, Harrisburg, PA; must report to this location daily for work
Willingness to work different shifts
Ability to work in confined spaces
At least 18 months of industrial/commercial style switchgear experience
Capability to perform essential job functions
Preferred Qualifications (not required)
Computer/technology experience: Word, Excel, AIM Work Order, ESS system, smartphone, email
Experience working from ladders, scaffolding, bucket truck, or manlifts while following safety procedures
