Sevee & Maher Engineers, Inc. (SME) has a new full-time position for a Solid Waste Engineer at our office in Cumberland, Maine. SME is looking for a qualified intermediate to senior engineer.

Position Summary As Solid Waste Engineer, you will report to a principal of the firm and participate in diverse and dynamic projects for commercial, municipal, and industrial solid waste projects in Maine and the northeastern United States. You will work closely with SME’s multidisciplinary staff and frequently interact directly with teammates so effective interpersonal and communications skills are important.

Your Impact As a Solid Waste Engineer you will have an exceptional opportunity to work on a wide variety of assignments that may include solid waste management projects, stormwater systems, environmental compliance and permitting. Responsibilities

Engineering and design.

Technical reports and specifications.

Construction engineering inspection and documentation services.

Engineering tasks to support our Cumberland, Maine office.

Maintaining a high level of organizational skills to keep tasks on schedule.

Being an integral team member and problem solver adept at developing practical, cost‑effective solutions that serve our clients well.

Compensation and Benefits

Required Skills and Qualifications

B.S. degree in Environmental Engineering or Civil Engineering, with 5+ years of experience.

Construction exposure or experience.

Engineering design experience, including site grading, stormwater management, geosynthetics, pump and piping systems, and preparing technical reports and specifications.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD software.

Ability to read and understand local, state, and federal permitting requirements.

Effective oral and written communication skills.
