Job Title
Electrician – Memphis‑Shelby County Schools
Overview Works under general supervision to perform journeyman‑level work, including repairing and maintaining electrical wiring, evaluating layout plans and cost estimates, installing new systems, repairing existing high and low voltage electrical systems, performing minor rebuilding tasks, and repairing or replacing miscellaneous equipment.
Responsibilities
Ensures the safe, efficient, and cost‑effective repair and maintenance of all electrical equipment in the District.
Inspects electrical installations of contractors to ensure compliance with specifications and electrical codes.
Evaluates and estimates the cost of electrical repair and minor installations for new and/or remodeled projects.
Plans layout, installs, and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment.
Responds to electrical emergency situations, when requested.
Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
Qualifications Graduation from an accredited high school with a high school diploma or possession of a GED. Four (4) years of experience in commercial electrical installation and/or maintenance.
Memphis and Shelby County Journeyman Electrical License required. Proof of education, training, and/or experience is required.
Licensing and Requirements Memphis and Shelby County Journeyman Electrical License required. Proof of education, training, and/or experience is required. Degree equivalency may be applied: Bachelor’s Degree = 4 years of experience; Master’s Degree = 2 years of experience.
Salary $90,000.00 – $100,000.00
Location MSCS Zone 1 and Zone 3, Memphis, TN
