We are looking for an Instructor Digital Gaming and Simulation who will advance the institution’s proud tradition of excellence in academics, student life, and community service. Come be a part of the Mosaic of HCC.

Teach Courses Teach a variety of courses focusing on Digital gaming & simulation for programmers and/or artists. Courses include 2D, 3D, AR/VR game development. Candidates should have professional experience in programming and/or scripting languages C++ and C#.

The ideal candidate will have strong team building and management skills, knowledge of game design fundamentals and best practices, and experience using a variety of game creation tools.

Key Responsibilities

Lecture and teach across multiple modalities, online and in‑person.

Provide quality feedback while mentoring students in industry‑related skills and expectations.

Mentor students in a workforce environment in developing their portfolio.

Summary Provide the expertise and knowledge that support the college curriculum and programs. Establish courses following accepted higher education standards, teach students using a variety of effective methodologies and provide engagement and support activities that encourage student learning. The role of the Instructional Faculty encompasses teaching, learning, academic advising, professional development, and institutional and community service.

The incumbent will teach a maximum load of contact hours each semester in areas of competency and participate as a part‑time instructor in the activities of the department, division, and college. Faculty may teach in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online (synchronous or asynchronous), or any combination of modalities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching Demonstrate skill and/or knowledge in teaching discipline.

Make continuous efforts to improve instruction quality.

Develop and use a syllabus for each course or laboratory within college, discipline, and departmental guidelines.

Plan, develop, and use a variety of teaching methods and materials for diverse student backgrounds.

Evaluate students and inform them of progress in a timely manner.

Keep accurate student records and submit related reports within timelines.

Review, evaluate, and recommend textbook and learning materials.

Teach courses at various times and locations as needed.

Use equipment and facilities responsibly; assist chair with laboratory maintenance when appropriate.

Academic Advising Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and community.

Provide access through office hours, electronic communication, and other methods.

Make presentations on academic fields, programs, transfer opportunities, work‑co‑ops, and career paths.

Create and maintain a departmental website.

Work with Chair on advising activities as needed.

Professional Development Establish annual objectives for professional growth.

Keep pace with discipline developments and learn supporting technologies.

Participate in evaluation processes for self, department, and college.

Institutional and Community Service Participate in institutional service activities and committee meetings.

Attend department, college or system meetings and committees.

Be familiar with and adhere to all policies and procedures of HCCS.

Engage in student activities, recruitment, and community education.

Support accreditation standards and planning processes.

Assist in articulation with secondary and post‑secondary institutions.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above.

Education

Associate degree in Gaming or related field required.

Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.

Copy of transcript and certifications must accompany application.

Experience

3 years of working experience in gaming software development, as a game designer, artist, and/or programmer.

Portfolio required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to work in a diverse work environment.

Willing and able to teach day or evening classes at several sites across the city.

Proficient in various computer software and usage.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with diverse populations.

Good organizational and planning skills.

Sensitivity to students with diverse backgrounds and disabilities.

Ability to inspire and motivate students in a learning‑centered environment.

Proficient in concept design, storyboarding, level design, version control, project management, game engine, and testing methodologies. Preferred: virtual sculpting tool.

Mentor students in portfolio development.

Software knowledge: Unreal Engine, Unity, Maxon ZBrush, Autodesk Maya, MS Visual Studio.

Capability to teach 2D, 3D, AR/VR game development with C++ and C# programming.

Ability to teach Mathematics and Physics for games (plus).
