Position Overview Insulator – Decatur, AL. The Insulator will cover boilers, pipes, tanks, and refrigeration units with insulating materials such as fiberglass, cork, plastic, and magnesia to reduce heat loss or absorption, prevent moisture condensation, and deaden sound.

Qualifications

1 to 4 years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)

Written pre‑employment qualification test

Post‑offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation

Hazard Communication orientation/test

Turner Industries Group, LLC indoctrination

OSHA approved corrective eyewear (Z87)

Job site orientation and safety requirements (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel‑toe boots, etc.)

Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.)

Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of themselves or others in the workplace

Functional Requirements Perform tasks such as laying prefabricated fiberglass covering around steam and hot water piping; trowelling mastic or brushes cement on insulation to obtain a smooth finish; fitting thermoblock and magnesia‑block insulation around boilers, evaporators, and turbines; wiring insulation on machinery; staples wire netting; trowelling cement on wire netting; wiring cork on salt water, refrigeration and air‑conditioning piping; cementing cloth over insulation; cutting sheets of insulation; fitting and cements sections around fittings; covering gas piping of refrigeration or air‑conditioning systems with molded plastic; fabricating detachable insulation for valves or similar fittings; wiring detachable covers; installing fiberglass or spun glass on ventilation systems to deaden sound and prevent vibration.

Compensation Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

Physical Involvement Employee may be required to climb ladders, scaffolds, and structures above and below ground level; maintain balance on ladders and scaffolds; reach in all directions; handle and manipulate objects and materials; coordinate movements of eyes, hands, and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lift 30–50 pounds from ground, waist, or overhead; carry objects, tools, equipment; stand, sit, walk, push, pull, bend, kneel, crouch, squat, crawl; see and hear with or without correction.
