Working Pattern: Full time Working location: Indianapolis, IN/Hybrid (3 days week onsite avg.)
We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer of Component Design to join the team in Indianapolis. The LibertyWorks Component Design Engineer shall create engineering solutions that satisfy functional and physical requirements of Products and Sub-Systems. This role is responsible for the on-time delivery and quality of component design definition artefacts i.e. documents, models, definitions that meet system level and sub-system requirements. A LibertyWorks Component Design Engineer requires a desire to work in new and novel solution environments, paving the way for new technology development. You will participate within an IPT and will be responsible for sub‑system integration of the technical activities for their design solutions while supporting product realization through the Supply Chain Design. This Component Design Engineer role will work primarily with the components within the major subsystems to design, produce, and test components and mechanical systems for LibertyWorks’ products. In this role, the Design Engineer ensures the component definition meets project requirements from concept through to demonstration test.
Responsibilities
Create component requirements documents for owned hardware and hardware design concepts and perform trade studies to optimize hardware
Support creation of detailed drawings and model‑based definition and support project/manufacturing to procure conforming hardware
Provide limits for engine and rig testing and supporting testing including assessment of test results and tested hardware
Orchestrate Technical Review/Design Review and communicate solutions with the project/customer.
Develop technical presentations and associated technical reports in the delivery of solutions
Perform subsystem and component trade studies for emerging products and architectures
Create and review functional and physical interfaces and generate analysis requirements for components
Provide input for component level risks and complete DFMEA and risk assessments for owned components.
Qualifications Basic Requirements:
Associates Degree in Engineering with 4+ years of related experience; OR
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 2+ years of related experience; OR
Masters degree in Engineering; OR
JD/PhD in Engineering
In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must currently possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Preferred Requirements:
Experience using computer aided design tools such as NX
Experience with Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances (GD&T), and the creation of limit stacks.
Experience with generic design processes as well as component specific design guidance.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes, engine assembly, and testing.
Experience using finite element analysis tools (such as ANSYS)
Good communication and presentation skills at all levels of the organization
