Overview
Georgia‑Pacific is seeking a
Maintenance Lead Technician
for its GP Sweetwater, TX facility. The role involves providing maintenance support across all operational areas and leading a team of maintenance technicians.
Responsibilities
Plan, monitor, and supervise all maintenance activities for assigned areas.
Assist with troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical/electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment, including power supplies, drives, gauges, and test equipment.
Install, start up, and shut down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
Perform preventative maintenance functions.
Assist with fabrication, predictive maintenance, and routine checks.
Provide technical troubleshooting support to both operations and maintenance personnel.
Train and mentor other maintenance and technical employees.
Communicate effectively with team members at all levels using oral and written skills.
Participate in team environments and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, major capital projects, equipment installations, and facility improvements.
Handle all necessary reporting and required documentation.
Foster a positive team environment.
Travel may be required for training purposes.
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or military environment.
Experience troubleshooting industrial electrical controls, including PLCs, HMIs, and AC/DC drives.
Experience troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Experience repairing bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, conveyors, etc.
Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings.
Experience with precision alignment of motors, couplings, bearings, pumps, and lubrication.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s degree in electrical and/or mechanical technology.
Prior maintenance experience in the gypsum industry.
Experience serving as a Maintenance Lead.
