The Sr. Engineering Specialist (Manufacturing Engineer) ensures that our end product meets customer needs. This position is responsible for initiating and implementing technical improvements, preventing and resolving technical problems, and assessing the capabilities of the processes. The manufacturing engineer will provide all aspects of technical leadership in the improvement of manufacturing processes, manufacturing equipment efficiencies, and product quality.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES The employee duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Adhere to all plant and position-specific safety policies, procedures, and standards

Develop and implement procedures and systems to ensure products consistently meet or exceed customer expectations

Support process and product development trials

Maintain master files and history on all specifications and procedures

Identify opportunities for process improvement resulting in increased productivity, improved product quality, and reduced process variability

Analyze product and process data, providing feedback and making recommendations to optimize performance

Monitor and maintain all process-related programs to control product specifications and set points

Implement best practices for process setup, maintenance, and process control

Perform spot-checks and routine audits related to the production process and quality testing

Provide technical support to Operations, Maintenance and Leadership, as well as all customers

Provide leadership and project management to improve product quality, equipment uptime, and line utilization at the Joplin plant.

Utilize Root Cause Analysis methods to problem solve process issues and increase equipment reliability, process capability, and improve product quality.

Apply sound engineering practices towards the completion of improvement projects.

Provide project management to capital projects to ensure on-time and on-budget completion.

Identify and eliminate common causes of product and process variation (troubleshooting).

Identify and implement process improvements and best practices. Improvements may originate from S&T, ISBMS, or other facilities

Must partner with COE for mineral wool.

Implement corrective actions for issues surfaced through quality complaints and hold tags.

Identify and request capital funding for equipment, modifications, etc.

Coach, train, mentor and provide leadership to equipment operators, maintenance technicians, and production technicians on the manufacturing process and process control procedures.

Partner with Maintenance to develop and implement Total Productive Maintenance plans for equipment to ensure employee understanding and ownership

Partner with our Product Technical Leaders to develop Product Specifications that are achievable and capable in the manufacturing environment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field

2-4 Years of experience in a manufacturing environment

Experience with Total Productive Maintenance methodology and implementation and/or Lean certification preferred.

1-2 Years of experience in coordinating and managing tasks with hourly technicians is preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Ability to organize and lead multi-functional teams to achieve plant objectives

Strong listening and comprehension skills

Ability to lead Continuous Improvement/ Focused Improvement projects as desired

Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization

Strong analytical skillset

Business and Financial acumen to understand the drivers of success and how they interact

External perspective and understanding that all business opportunities start with the knowledge of how to create value for the customer

Strong trouble-shooting skills

Utilize SAP for data entry and reporting
